There’s no dearth of heroes in our lives, be it reel or real. When one such reel-life hero, actor Rahul Bose, decided to tell the story of a real life hero, Poorna Malavath, it was pure magic on screen. But then again, Poorna’s story is nothing short of an unbelievable adventure.

How a girl from a small village in Nizamabad district of Telangana managed this Herculean feat is a story worth knowing. Maybe that’s what prompted Rahul Bose to turn it into a movie that could inspire the millions who watch it.

Poorna is an inspiring film directed by and starring Rahul Bose as Dr. R. S. Praveen Kumar, with Aditi Inamdar as the young mountaineer Malavath Poorna. The film was screened at the 2017 Palm Springs International Film Festival, where it got nominated on the festival’s list of ’30 Best Feature Films’ and was declared tax-free in several states of India.

An association with &pictures gave birth to Sapnon Ki Udaan: Poorna, an episodic series where Rahul and Poorna met with some real-life superwomen to uncover their stories of true grit.

Look at Kanchan and you’ll see a 20 something woman who’s beautiful, smart, a clinical psychologist and the lead singer of an indie band. But underneath all that lies a heartbreaking tragic story. Diagnosed with cancer at 17, she has fought a long battle against her illness and emerged victorious.
